NAMI-St. Cloud Area
NAMI-St. Cloud is a regional affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental illness. It's focus is to provide a voice for the local mental health community by offering monthly educational opportunities, organizing an annual conference, providing opportunities for local participation (ex. NAMIWalk, Family to Family groups, etc.), and a quarterly newsletter intended to keep members infomed of the latest news and opportunities within their local community.
NAMI Presents: Mental Health First Aid
This 2-day, 12-hour workshop is designed to teach the basic first aid skills needed to help a person who is experiencing a mental health crisis. Understanding and recognizing the signs that someone needs help, is the first step in getting that person appropriate care and treatment. Participants will receive a course manual and certificate. There is no charge to attend but registration is required. The class runs 9am to 4pm both days and attendance for the full 12 hours is mandatory in order to receive the certificate. Attendees should bring lunch and a beverage.
When: Wednesday, June 6 & Thursday, June 7 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: CentraCare Plaza (Hughes Matthews Room), 1900 Centracare Circle, St. Cloud, MN

Become NAMI St. Cloud's Secretary!
A secretary is needed for our NAMI St. Cloud Board. A secretary's position includes writing the monthly meeting minutes and forwarding e-mails to the NAMI St. Cloud President. Total time of commintment is about 2 hours a month. Call (320) 654-1259 if interested.

2011 Accomplishments
As another year comes to an end, NAMI St. Cloud would like to announce some if its accomplishments:
- We had our first ever NAMIWalk, which was very successful
- We had our 25th Annual Conference on mental health
- We held 11 one hour free educational classes which included CEU's
- Attended Day on the Hill and spoke with legislators
- Attended 2 VA Stand Downs with an informational table
- Hosted 2 brat sales with Coborn's/Cash Wise
- Donated to NARSAD, NAMI National, and NAMI MN
- Put out quarterly newsletters to NAMI St. Cloud members
- Worked on getting a website (which you are reading now!) and Facebook page
- Co-sponsored a move "The Beaver" for May is Mental Health Month
- Attended Homeless Connect at Saint Cloud State University
- We were told that we are the Best Affiliate of the State!
- Parent Voices with Arc Midstate hosted their first annual children's mental health conference "Together We Can"
- Parent Voices hosted 3 series of free education classes on Children's Mental Health
