The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) today launched a nationwide SMS/text message support option for the NAMI HelpLine, adding a communications medium that is overwhelmingly preferred by young people — a population experiencing an unprecedented mental health crisis.
Help-seekers can now text “HELPLINE” to 62640 between 10 a.m.–10 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday, to connect with the NAMI HelpLine. The free, peer-support service provides information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public.

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
(formerly the National Suicide Lifeline)
We are thrilled to announce that 988 is the new three-digit dialing code to reach this life-saving service.
Beginning July 16, anyone experiencing suicidal, substance use, and other mental health crises can connect with trained counselors for this vital resource. 988 opens the door for millions of Americans to seek the help they need, while sending the message to the country that healing, hope, and help are happening every day. As the universal dialing code, 988 will increase the accessibility of life-saving interventions and resources.
The 988 crisis line is able to:
Connect a person in a mental health crisis to a trained counselor who can address their immediate needs and help connect them to ongoing care.
Those living in Benton, Stearns, Sherburne or Wright counties in Minnesota can still call the 4 county crisis line:
320-253-5555 or 1-800-635-8008
